Man With No Morals

My bathtub filled with dirt and scum,
I wipe away the fog covering the bathroom mirror
and allow myself a peek of what’s behind the shaggy beard
and overlapping belly.
The fingers that for twenty years pushed steel and removed barriers.
And with a disgusted tear and a huff,
I cover it back up again.
How easily life can be removed.
I go to sleep.
One o’clock. Time for a left turn.
Three o’clock. Time for a right turn.
Five o’clock. The ceiling starts to stare at me.
In two hours I get to start work.
Unemployment.
The anticipation is killing me.
Breakfast-worms.
Lunch-worms.
Dinner-worms.
Not me.
The kid on TV
I watch TV too much.
And I eat too much.
And I drink too much.
Way too much.

Forgotten. Like me.
Ever pull out that old photo album?
Ever see that two year old picture of you smiling?
And realize that two seconds ago you farted,
and made your own joke about?
Ever see the wife?
Ever see the kids?
Ever see the house or the family dog?
I never did.
I just farted. And I just laughed. And...

Something to take my mind off of me.
Hey kids!
You want something fun and easy to do?
Why don’t you go up to your future wife and call her a bitch.
Cough in her face and pee on the floor.
Try slapping her once or twice.
She’ll never talk back.
She’ll never call over her ex-boyfriends.
Trust me. I know.
And so does the other three guys.
I ran into a Priest yesterday.
He said something like,
"May God have mercy on your soul".
I pulled a dollar out of my pocket and asked,
"Is this what you're talking about?"
"Man with no morals."
That’s what he said.
Man with no morals?
That must be a lie.
I did everything my father told me.
-My wife left.
I read the good book.
-My kids hate me.
Stupid Priest.
Reality.
How dare he make me face it?
I'm not a man with no morals.
I just have,
questionable morals.
No answers.
