The Dreaming

Dreams are easily swallowed
When the brightness of day becomes too much to bear.
The world awakens and we kiss our fantasies good-bye.
Alarm clocks have no theories on enlightenment.
Reality tickers away at its own ignorant pace.
And the dreamers revive to breathe an old sin.
A broken cord and the strings of life fade quickly.
Stray memories will burn away at the heart.

A man up high cries for his children,
Though his children cannot answer the call.
The dreaming is such a bitter sweet world,
Where life and death shares the same space.
The balance may be corrupted
But that never stopped a tear.
Tears fall with false alliance in the dreaming
But that never stopped a dream.

Deliver faith to all and most will give it back.
Faithless dreams have broken the soul.
Propose a cure and the dreaming will banish you.
Righteousness has no place for the small minded.
Those who resort to dreams will become locked inside them.
Such a fetish should not be tested.

Four walls can make a prison as it can a tomb.
A sealed fate is never a certainty.
Dreamers will dream with or without your approval.
But pray that the dreamers’ slumber doesn’t last.
For once the brightness becomes too much to bear,
Then you will find that their night may never find an end.
